Job Description

This is a brilliant opportunity to join the London Water Operational Excellence team as a Water Supply Energy Optimisation & Efficiency Specialist.

The role will be accountable for delivering sustainable improvement of energy consumption across our London Water Supply System.

This is a 12-month secondment.

Whilst the portfolio of initiatives will be varied, you will deliver projects under the following programmes:
  • System Optimisation – Delivering water through the most efficient routes from the abstraction point to the customer's tap.
  • Spend-to-save targeted investment – Replacing or refurbishing our most inefficient assets.
  • Pumping Station and Water Treatment Process Optimisation.

You will know what a good project delivery structure looks like and be able to use a variety of project and initiative management tools and techniques. The role will involve working alongside the frontline teams to implement change, in addition to managing stakeholders from around the business.
  • Location – You can be based at any of the following Thames Water sites – Clear Water Court, Kemble, Farmoor, Fobney, Kiddlington, Highworth.
  • Working Hours- Monday-Friday 36 hours per week, Hybrid.

What you’ll be doing as a Water Supply Energy Optimisation & Efficiency Specialist
  • Working alongside multiple internal teams and our supply chain to implement energy optimisation and efficiency projects across the region.
  • Provide insight to local and senior stakeholders based on sound data analytics and wider industry learning.
  • Manage all relevant stakeholders to create a clear delivery plan, resolve blockers and provide progress updates.
  • Provide analytics on energy usage of water supply assets. This could be used for budget planning, investment cases or efficiency tracking.
  • Be a change advocate within Water, championing the transformation in optimising our systems and assets.
  • Guide on strategic discussions, such as future investment and sustainable system improvements.

What should you bring to the role?
  • Strong track record of building internal & external relationships.
  • Be a confident communicator who can work well collaboratively.
  • Good technical understanding of power/ energy usage across pumping assets.
  • Knowledge of commercial and contractor management would be desirable.
  • Have an analytical approach to problem identification and solving. Taking ownership of any blockers during project delivery.
  • Preferably understand the Source to Tap water operations.
  • Preferably worked within an operational environment.
  • Be confident in presenting data and project delivery plans.
  • Flexibility in working area, some travel to the regional depots will be required regardless of base location.
  • A full clean UK driver’s licence is essential, as is the use of a car for business purposes.
