As a Water Quality Scientist working in our laboratory, you’ll play a vital role in supporting efforts to maintain the industry leading quality of our water for our customers. You will also be responsible for reviewing and interpreting the results of our water quality monitoring programmes and liaise with departments across the business in respect of water quality sample results and investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Wholesale Services Production and Supply teams in respect of water quality data (laboratory generated and on-line readings). Advise on improvements to treatment process performance or network management, as appropriate
- Contribute to specific projects, including the investigation or application of new or varied processes, to solve water treatment or network quality problems
- Assist the Engineering team with the review of process design and commissioning of new treatment plant
- Review and interpret the results of the Company’s water quality monitoring programmes and arrange investigations into unusual sample results or failures
- Production of emails, letters and reports for customers, the Drinking Water Inspectorate, Local Authority Environmental Health, UKHSA or other agencies and stakeholders, as appropriate
- Provision of routine water quality advice to colleagues in the Customer Services team, or direct to customers, in response to water quality enquiries / complaints
- Data analysis, monitoring of performance and production of reports.
What We're Looking For:
Essential Requirements:
- You will be familiar with water quality requirements and the ways in which water quality issues can be investigated, resolved and addressed.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and organise your own workload whilst contributing to work load of a small, close knit team.
- The ability to produce high quality, detailed work based on established guidelines and procedures.
- A-Levels (or equivalent) in a science-based subject coupled with a high standard of numeracy and literacy.
Desirable Skills:
- A science-based degree.
- Practical laboratory experience.
- An understanding of SCADA and GIS systems would be a benefit.
