As a Part-Time Water Sampler, you'll be on the front line of water safety, quality and delivery, ensuring that customers receive the very best when they turn on their tap.
What you'll be doing:
You'll spend most of your time out and about visiting water treatment works, reservoirs, and other Affinity Water sites collecting water samples across our operational area in Stevenage and delivering to the laboratory in Staines.
You'll perform routine, non-routine and random sampling across our supply area, working independently to complete your daily schedule.
There will be a level of interacting with our customers to gain access to residential properties to take water quality samples, and so you'll be comfortable with entering customer properties and engaging with the public.
There's plenty of driving involved and so you'll be a confident driver who's prepared to travel long distances. You must have a full/clean UK/Manual driving licence. Travelling between sites couldn't be easier as you'll be given a company van to get yourself around.
What you'll need:
There's lots of autonomy in this role as you'll plan your sampling schedule each day. You'll be excellent at managing your time, meeting deadlines and be comfortable working alone.
Whilst experience in water or the broader utilities industry is beneficial, this isn't essential as we'll invest the time to ensure you're up to speed with industry knowledge and best practise.
When you're not outdoors collecting samples, you'll be based at the Labs in Staines completing key administration tasks such as data input and recording samples into our internal systems. You'll be comfortable using core IT programs such as MS Excel.
As the service you'll provide is essential to the customer, you'll be comfortable participating in a weekend and out-of-hours standby rota to ensure someone is always on hand when there's an operational issue. It's. all part of your outstanding service
The Rota will be provided with plenty of notice for the working candidate, offering flexibility with the Sampling team to swap shifts to accommodate where needed.
Standby will be a separate payment on top of your base salary.
What's in it for you:
The work you'll do is also essential for Affinity Water to deliver safe, clean drinking water to our local communities every day. In return, you'll be entitled to a host of benefits including a competitive salary, double-matching SMART pension scheme, and a holiday allowance that increases with length of service. So the longer you stay, the more you gain.
