Job Description

As a water quality Sampler, you'll be on the front line of water safety, quality and delivery, ensuring that customers receive the very best when they turn on their tap.

About us

Affinity Water is the UKs largest water-only supplier, providing sustainable, high-quality water to 3.85million customers across the Southeast of England. We are on a mission to redefine the way water companies connect with their customers and communities, and to make better use of water and safeguard the local environment now and in the future.

The role:

You will spend some of your time out and about visiting water treatment works, reservoirs, and other Affinity Water sites collecting water samples across our operational area between Guildford and North London and delivering to the laboratory in Staines.

You'll perform routine, non-routine and random sampling across our supply area, working independently to complete your daily schedule. There will be some unannounced visits to customers houses to take sample readings in residential areas, and so you need to be comfortable entering customer properties. (DBS check will be required and paid for by Affinity Water)

There's plenty of driving involved and so you'll be a confident driver happy to drive around our supply area, on average 60/70 miles per day. Travelling between sites couldn't be easier as you'll be given a company van. This can be used to commute to and from work.

You must have a full/clean UK/Manual driving licence.

Experience needed:

- You'll be excellent at managing your time, meeting deadlines and be comfortable working alone.

- Eagerness to develop your skills, we will invest time to train and develop you to ensure you're up to speed with industry knowledge and best practise.

- You will be out in the field during the day and returning to our local depot in either Staines or Rickmansworth to complete key administration tasks such as data input and recording samples into our internal systems.

- Basic IT Skills, training given on bespoke apps

- As this is a customer facing role you will need to have excellent communication skills and experience of working with the public.

Interview Process:

This role has a 2 stage interview process which includes;

- 1st stage interview: Microsoft Teams interview (45 minutes)

- 2nd stage interview: Face to face interview at our Staines site where you will meet the hiring managers, have a detailed overview of the day to day duties of a Sampler within Affinity Water and you will also have the opportunity to meet the rest of the Sampling Team, ask questions and take part in a practical assessment of taking water samples.

If you are successful at shortlist, the Talent Acquisition Partner managing this role will be in touch to discuss the outcome and arrange an interview.

Closing Date: 2/12/24
