The Role
The Field Technical Officer plays a key role in ensuring our wastewater treatment sites run safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory standards. The role provides scientific, technical and practical support to the Production Manager, Process Controllers and Operators. You will help optimise treatment processes, maintain asset performance, and contribute to strong regulatory and customer outcomes.
Role Accountabilities
- Use operational data to identify issues early, take appropriate action and raise any risks to the Production Manager.
- Develop and deliver action plans that ensure wastewater sites meet regulatory and internal performance standards.
- Work closely with Technical Officers, Process Controllers and Operators to support compliance, site performance and technical capability.
- Provide practical, technical and scientific guidance to help operate, maintain and optimise wastewater treatment assets.
- Identify and resolve operational or asset issues related to compliance, efficiency, safety and reliability.
- Review, interpret and clearly explain performance data to support sound decision making and continuous improvement.
- Lead or support site planning, optimisation activities, best practice development, quality assurance and technical projects across the district.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of wastewater treatment operations.
- Full UK Driving License
- Ability to interpret data, solve problems and make sound operational decisions.
- Confident communicator with strong teamwork skills and the ability to support and influence others.
- Good understanding of wastewater treatment assets and how to manage them effectively.
- Practical experience improving performance, supporting others, and adapting to regulatory expectations.
