What you will be doing

Thames Water is undergoing significant business transformation spanning all areas of the organisation and as such the environment is fluid, challenging yet hugely rewarding.

The Programme Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of Thames Water’s critical business programmes. This is a senior and critical role supporting the delivery of the Operations Transformation Portfolio.

The role holder will be able to work with senior stakeholders in the business, ensuring critical business programmes are well defined, justified and successfully managed to enable the realisation of the benefits stated in the business case. The role holder is expected to be able to engage with external stakeholders e.g. shareholders, board members, government officials and our regulators.

The Programme Manager is leading a virtual programme delivery team and is accountable to the executive sponsor of the programme that he or she is managing.
Self-motivation, drive and pragmatism are critical, as is a proven track record of successful delivery of complex programmes, ideally within the Utilities industry. As such, a consultancy background is considered desirable.

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Proven track record of successful delivery of large enterprise-wide programmes in the Utilities industry
  • Leadership of direct teams 20 FTE+
  • Leadership of virtual teams 50 FTE+
  • Manage programme budgets of ~£20m+
  • Ability to lead programmes and change initiatives to deliver major transformation
  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management and influencing skills at ‘C’ level
  • Consulting background desirable
