Job Purpose

 

To provide advice and assistance to the Project Delivery Team to ensure that potential customer and third-party problems are identified and resolved.

 

You will be the focal point for advice to the Delivery Manager and project team on the co-ordination of customer and third-party activities (e.g. Network rail and power supplies) undertaken by the project team. You will interact with external and internal stakeholders in the management and delivery of projects safely and to time, cost & quality constraints.

 

Job Accountabilities

 
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager and project team on the identification, of customer and third-party risks associated with capital projects and customer/street works matters and community investment opportunities.
  •            
  • Working with Environment & Sustainability to initiate the Customer and Third-Party Action Plan (for individual projects.
  •            
  • Working with the Delivery Manager and project team to ensure effective internal & external stakeholder identification, analysis, and on-going engagement (eg. Customers, Parish Council, Street works, United Utilities Operations staff, Public, Community Investment, etc.)
  •            
  • Working with the Delivery Manager and project team to ensure customer and third-party risks are communicated and fed into key project documentation and processes (such as Business Case, project risk register, Batch Management Plan, Works Information, etc)
  •            
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager and project team on the ownership and resolution of customer contacts in accordance with company guaranteed standards of service / service level agreements.
  •            
  • Contributing to project reviews and input to monthly reports on customer/stakeholder management cost, schedule, risk
  •            
  • Developing a strong working relationship and lines of communication with the relevant Area Engagement Lead.
  •            
  • Where required, represent projects at relevant quarterly highway co-ordination meetings
  •            
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager and project team on the customer and third-party elements of the UU Risk &Value and Collaborative planning
  •            
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager & Supply Chain Manager on the scoring of the customer and third-party elements of contractor tender bids
  •            
  • Following the company Project Delivery System and share pertinent project information / documentation via ProjectWise.
  •            
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager and project team to ensure all necessary customer and third-party approvals & consents are in place prior to full approval or start on site.
  •            
  • Undertaking assurance activities such as site visits to monitor project performance for customer and third-party activities.
  •            
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager and project team for customer and third party matters during the implementation phase and to ensure third party activities / problems are closed out on completion of Projects.
  •            
  • Providing advice and assistance to the Delivery Manager and project team to ensure customer and third-party lessons are learned and effectively communicated.
  •            
  • For designated area projects/clusters establish and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external) work with the Area Engagement Leads to understand the holistic impact of stakeholder (including customer and community) advice for individual projects / clusters
 

Knowledge and Skills

 
  • Be degree educated or long-standing experience of customer service and third-party activities in construction projects.
  •            
  •  Be enthusiastic about delivering great customer service.
  •            
  • Be able to engage in effective communication with customers, Internal & External Stakeholders, and can change communication style to suit different situations.
  •            
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications (word, excel & power point in particular)
  •            
  •  Be able to prioritise tasks, time & resources to deliver business targets / objective
  •            
  •  Have technical, commercial & contractual awareness / competence with a good understanding of medium to high complexity Water Industry Projects
  •            
  •  Be familiar with the various sectors & organisations the role interfaces with
  •            
  •  Have a record of delivery of projects throughout the project life cycle in a supportive role to the Delivery Manager (or equivalent)
