What you’ll be responsible for

 

Operation and maintenance of sludge screening, sludge imports, centrifuges, odour control, Cambi™ process, water treatment, steam boilers, CHP and Gas to Grid plant, digestion process, return liquor treatment, thermally hydrolysed sludge dewatering and sludge export. This will include:

 

 

  • Participating in a shift pattern of working 4 days or 4 nights and 4 days off each comprising of 12 hours.
  • Demonstrating ownership of process problems & managing the decision making process outside of the conventional working day.
  • Working in conjunction with our capital partners and their suppliers during construction and commissioning of the Five Fords plant. All required training will also need be completed during this period before the plant is fully operational.
  • Shadowing and assisting external maintenance engineers.
  • Proactively carrying out planned maintenance and operational checks to time and required standards.
  • Undertaking sampling of all processes as per instructions and recording any analysis in the site log.
  • Managing sludge stocks ensuring that there is capacity for adequately desludging the WWTW. 
  • Liaising with the Waste Services Controller and importing/exporting contractors as necessary and managing the dewatered sludge bays and sludge cake storage building.
  • Monitoring and seeking to maximise performance of CHP’s and gas exports, liaising closely with the Energy Team and maintenance providers.
  • Actively taking part in risk assessments, COSHH assessments and all health and safety issues.
  • Identifying problematic plant and the subsequent faults, rectifying where possible and escalating to Operations Supervisor as appropriate.
  • Monitoring SCADA alarms and taking required action to reduce plant failures and achieve optimisation of plant.
  • Following and complying with all QMS procedures relating to the plant including all record keeping and sampling to demonstrate HACCP compliance.
  • Successful applicants may be required to travel to other sites due to operational need or for training, so a full UK driving licence is essential.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Candidate must have a full drivers licence

The successful candidate will partake in a shift rota - 4 on 4 off (12 hour shifts)
