Job Purpose
To investigate and trial new technologies for analysis, detection and repair activities that will enable the leakage team to effectively and efficiently achieve the leakage reduction required by the company over the next AMP and beyond.
Job Accountabilities
• Support the Leakage team in the overall deployment of regional and specialist projects specifically taking a technical lead in initiatives such as satellite imagery, permanent acoustic logging, sniffer dogs and pressure optimisation
• Work closely with the whole leakage team and wider Water Network Teams, and Alliance Partners
• Lead on process reviews and training documentation and the implementation projects into business as usual activities
• Focus on continuous process improvements, supporting and embedding change across the whole leakage service chain
• Accountable for a technical overview within the region
Knowledge and Skills
• Extensive and relevant experience in leakage analysis, detection techniques and repair activities, including systems (Netbase and GS Mapping) and Tools (correlators, loggers, pressure control)
• Proven relevant experience in water network with a technical qualification (minimum HNC or NVQ Level 4)
• A high level of technical knowledge will be required to ensure compliance with Legislative and Regulatory standards covering relevant Network assets and equipment
• Sound financial understanding to support the Leakage Optimisation Managers to deliver financial plans and identify areas for further efficiencies
• An understanding of wider business issues across all levels of the Company's operation, particularly an awareness of the nature and effect of competition within the Utility sector
• Good analytical skills and the ability to identify, develop and drive through solutions to a wide range of technical and managerial problems
• An understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding Water Operations
• Excellent IT, numerical skills & communication skills to communicate to leakage technicians across the business
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team and capable of using own initiative and having a flexible approach to highly varied workloads
• Full driver's license
Desirable Criteria
• Extensive knowledge and use of a variety of leakage detection equipment
• Previous Project management experience
• Track record of delivering change in an operational team
• Ability to manage multiple projects
