Role – Sustainable Drainage Strategy Manager
Location – Pity Me, Durham (Flexible for home based)
Type – Permanent/37hrs per week
Salary – £53,766 up to £59,740 + bonus + excellent benefits
About the role
We’ve a great opportunity to join us as our Sustainable Drainage Strategy Manager (known as our Sustainable Sewerage Manager internally) and build upon our current policies/strategies/frameworks to establish and maintain us as the industry leader in the delivery provision of sustainable drainage and surface water management. We’re also looking for you to manage and influence on multiple levels within Lead Local Flood Authorities and the Environment Agency (including national initiatives and policy direction, heads of departments and senior officers), along with Industry groups and regulators to name a few.
This is an amazing role as you’ll be our local, regional and national steering light who will engage with, and influence our internal and external partners in order to enhance existing practice and procedure in our collaborative working in our communities, to help us continue to understand the current and future sewerage and integrated drainage issues / opportunities to ensure we deliver solutions for our customers.
We’re looking for you to identify and adopt joint funding/management models to help realise the multiple benefits of sustainable infrastructure, along with the promotion of integrated sustainable drainage interventions to prioritise issues via relevant business planning processes. You’ll also be promoting the ‘best possible’ service to the customer balanced against environmental needs and costs.
You’ll be promoting the collaborative working opportunities associated with other wastewater issues including pollution and bathing water quality.
We’re looking for you to evaluate and make assessments on important developments and recommending strategic direction, production of relevant strategy documents, analysis of effectiveness of sustainable drainage approach and the investment needs, business planning and periodic review and the benefits of co-funding opportunities.
We’re looking for you to have proven experience of wastewater assets and operating practices/processes, along with a proven understanding of wastewater design principles – including sustainable drainage.
You’ll have proven experience of managing elements of a project and the proven experience of delivering collaborative/partnership activities/projects, along with the proven ability to analyse, interpret and report complex data. We’re looking for you to ideally have a proven practical experience of Flood Defence Grant in Aid process and an understanding of Water Industry financial regulation
You’ll ideally have awareness of climate change/urban creep scenarios, water industry and flood risk management legislation/guidance, along with awareness of planning policy, water cycle studies, flood risk regulations and surface water management planning
We’re looking for you to have proven experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You’ll have proven experience of communicating at all levels of a business, along with the proven ability to influence policy making and third party organisations. You’ll be persistent in solving problems and motivated to achieve deadlines
