Job Purpose

 

One of our key priorities is to reliably deliver safe clean drinking water to our customer's homes or business in the most sustainable efficient manner.

 

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will be required to work as an integral part of the Water Network Technical Team, and will be part of a team delivering improvements to reduce the number of Taste, Smell and Appearance (TSA) contacts and achieve the TSA ODI. ODI has received company funding to deliver a number of outputs throughout AMP 7 and into AMP 8 associated with the 6Cs TSA initiative and the Water Quality First programme. The SPM will also need to have the flexibility to support other key projects to secure the delivery of a reliable and high quality drinking water supply.

 

Job Accountabilities

 

Identify all relevant parties and priorities across the business to establish overall project objectives, deliverables and critical success factors to provide a basis for effective planning and management of projects

 

Apply recognised UU project planning techniques and methodologies to ensure consistency of approach across the business.

 

To define, plan, direct and deliver the agreed projects to time, cost and quality objectives.

 

To ensure projects are managed, optimised and delivered according to governance standards.

 

Review business requirements and offer options, balancing long term costs and value.

 

Monitor and review costs within the projects, prioritise spend and activity within projects. Ensure maximum efficiency and value for money.

 

Effective forecasting of costs and budget and delivery of activities in line with agreed plan.

 

Prepare Business Cases and project progress reports for assignment leads, project sponsors and the project management office.

 

Ensure readiness for implementation / handover to maximise business subsequent realisation of benefits and service stability.

 

Recording, analysing and disseminating lessons learnt.

 

To maintain and track the milestones and dependencies, to be proactive with communication to enable mitigation against the missing of key dates.

 

Maintain a proactive dialogue with internal clients, responding to feedback appropriately, to maximise internal customer satisfaction

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

Prince 2 Certified or APM accredited or equivalent experience or a commitment to attain that level

 

A demonstrable successful track record in the delivery projects

 

Experience of Clean Water Network Operations and or Process operations

 

Attention to detail in the collation and analysis of information and the preparation of reports.

 

Good commercial management skills and experience, and a demonstrable track record of managing third party suppliers to time and budget and quality.

 

Strong communication skills both written and oral.

 

Effective stakeholder management skills demonstrated at a variety of levels.

 

Forward thinking, proactive and strong ability to think of solutions to complex issues, has a flexible approach to change, able to work effectively in a variety of situations
