As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take responsibility for the specification and technical delivery of electrical engineering aspects of ScottishPower Renewable's (SPR) onshore Renewables projects.

Commencing at conceptual stages, projects are to be technically specified and delivered through development, planning application, tendering, design, construction and commissioning phases in line with the programme which includes Grid Application and all system design to ensure the design complies with project requirements. Projects will consist of Wind Generation, Solar PV, Energy Storage systems and other new technologies.

What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for technically managing daily aspects of electrical engineering design and delivery of assigned projects, ensuring support is given to Project Managers and other internal stakeholders. Leading on technical delivery, guiding and supporting the assigned electrical engineering resources, you will ensure technical delivery and coordination between all internal and external third parties is maintained, designed and carried out in line with SPR specifications, rules and company standards. You will also assist the Lead Engineer with resource management, ensuring the effective deployment of electrical engineering to support delivery of the programme of projects is optimised.

Primarily focusing on the electrical design and construction phases of new Renewable technology sites, you will be part of the project delivery engineering team. This role will include the generation and review of design proposals, the management and supervision of consultants and designers from conceptual design through to detail design of the electrical systems, interfaces, and infrastructure, ensuring designs comply with project requirements. You will create equipment ordering specifications for HV electrical infrastructure ensuring the placement of orders and coordination of the technical flow of information to the requirements and timescales of the project.

Working throughout the project lifecycle you will define requirements of Balance of Plant contractors, assess suitability of tenders, and manage subcontractors through the project phases. 

As you will be working as part of the Onshore Projects and Construction Team, there may be periods where you are site based during the construction phase of projects within the UK.

What you'll bring

Educated to degree standard in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, you will possess significant experience in Grid connection and Electrical Design.

Experience in the design and construction of windfarm projects or HV infrastructure is advantageous. Being IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software, you will possess a full driving licence and be prepared to work away from base office location as and when required. Chartered membership of the IET or equivalent recognised body is advantageous.
