78214 - Senior Planner

This Senior Planner will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and will work within UK Power Networks Services - Engineering based in our Elephant & Castle, London office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of £76,229 plus Inner London Allowance and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote

JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Planner role is to support the Design team with managing the planning and programming process to meet our clients programmes objectives, including the provision of information and support on programme matters to the Pricing, Design, Engineering and construction teams.

Analyse planning and control requirements for the programme of works, making recommendations on the most appropriate use of the planning package. Support current Senior Planner with tender programmes, cost and resource loaded, business and client reporting requirements.

Work with the Design team to develop alternative proposals that satisfy the requirements of the programme of works. Offer advantages to the UKPN Services teams regarding competitive position and deliver the Programme of works to time and within the defined budget. Ensure risk mitigation and reduction through sound delivery / construction planning techniques and practices.

Main Accountabilities

  • To co-ordinate and deliver planning programmes across all disciplines.
  • Ensure planning is carried out for all projects including management of and adherence to important dates, milestones and outages
  • Establish adherence to procedure
  • Maintain continuous improvement in programme processes
  • Ensure programme change control is exercised across all projects
  • Establish an understanding of the contract documents, codes of practice, standards and specifications.
  • Provide value added programme reporting at project, delivery team and business level
  • Maintain financial and important resource capacity information to enable allocation of resource to tasks.
  • Design, develop and introduce a process for Programme risk analysis.
  • Ensure supply chain equipment manufacture milestones are incorporated into project programme.
  • Support in develop cost and resource loaded tender programmes.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience using Primevera P6 planning software is essential
  • Planning experience in large Rail infrastructure projects within the Rail industry
  • Previous experience leading a Major programme planning team
  • Experience in major infrastructure projects incorporating design, engineering, construction and commissioning functions.
  • Experience with when to escalate risks and issues.
  • Degree in related engineering discipline or qualified by appropriate level of experience.
