Help us create a better future, quicker

Working within our Transmission business, you will be responsible for the development and update of a portfolio of projects from the wider ScottishPower Transmission (SPT) capital investment portfolio.

Reporting to the Project Unit Manager and working alongside Project Managers and Project Teams, you will be responsible for development, update & review of complex project plans within the Investment Plan of SP Transmission Major Projects Team.  The portfolio contains a diverse range of projects which include network modernisation, customer connection and major infrastructure reinforcement with project budgets ranging between £100k - £100m and project lifecycles from concept to closeout lasting between four & eight years.

Positioned within the SPT Projects business unit, you will be responsible for development, update & review of complex project plans within a portfolio for the £2bn Investment Plan of SP Transmission Major Projects, and reporting on the month-to-month movement of defined project KPIs for the portfolio, using specialist Planning Software and established IT Software tools.

What you'll be doing

You'll be responsible for developing & maintaining a portfolio of project schedules for SP Transmission Major Projects, ensuring a coherent and consistent approach is applied throughout the portfolio, resolving all project-centric scheduling and specific programming issues by interfacing with members of the Project Team.

As part of the update process, you'll work with the Project Manager and other members of the Project Team to gather updates from their area of expertise, assessing schedule risk associated with the information received and, where necessary, highlighting programme delivery risk and possible programming solutions to alleviate or mitigate the risk.

You'll assess discreet projects and how they integrated into the wider portfolio of work, highlighting & communicating interactions and potential clashes as they emerge - allowing issues to be resolved by the Project Teams at the earliest opportunity

Following the programme update cycle you'll assess the impact of the programme updates with the Project Unit Manager and Project Managers through review of portfolio level reports, to determine emerging issues and divergence between baselines and forecasts - communicating where programme interventions may assist with budget/resource/schedule efficiencies and savings.

What you'll bring

You'll bring proven experience in scheduling/programming/planning projects, a portfolio of works and knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project.

Your reporting experience working with Engineering Specifications and documentation will be supported by knowledge about the configuration and general arrangement of electricity supply infrastructure (substations, overhead lines and cables).

What's in it for you

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we'll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
