We are looking to appoint a Senior Commercial Lawyer with expertise within construction law for the role of Senior Legal Counsel to lead this exciting area of legal support to the business, taking it to the next level. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned lawyer to play a key role in a fast-moving and exciting environment.

As part of our legal team, you will contribute to the essential work advising the business on all commercial contracts.

As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will:

  • Act as a business partner to our Commercial, Engineering, HR, IT and Procurement Teams, proactively identifying legal support requirements.
  • Provide legal advice on commercial, contractual, data protection, engineering, and procurement law matters aligned with business objectives.
  • Advise the Executive Leadership Team on compliance with applicable legislation, in particular Utilities Contracts Regulations
  • Draft and review a variety of contracts and agreements, ensuring appropriate protection for Affinity Water.
  • Leading day-to-day legal and compliance risk management in your business areas.
  • Manage external legal advisers and handle contentious matters related to contractual or commercial law issues.

Experience required:

  • Inhouse or private practice qualified lawyer with a minimum 5 PQE with expertise contract law with exposure to construction contracts (focus on NEC 3&4)
  • Experience advising on public procurement and associated contracts

Basic salary from £80-85k plus car allowance £4305

Hybrid Flexible working - Office based 2 days per week in Hatfield is expected
