About the Role

Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff delivering HV testing and oversee the development of related works at Deeside Centre for Innovation. Day-to-day management of testing execution by preparing operations and resources, future planning of resources and facilities. 
Deeside Centre for Innovation is a unique test centre developed by National Grid to test innovative solutions for the energy sector. The facility is equipped for testing of OHL technology as well as 400kV equipment and P&C solutions. 

-    Oversee deployment of the facility during construction phase. Supervise personnel during facility operation after the centre being commissioned in 2021 
-    Management of a varied portfolio of testing activities conducted within the ET innovation team
-    Accountable for the design and delivery of large scale complex innovation projects
-    Accountable for the quality assurance of work delivered in-line with appropriate frameworks and agreements for each individual project
-    Undertake projects in accordance with safety, quality and working processes 
-    Act as a mentor to junior members of the team.
-    Responsible for the tracking of the benefits delivered through innovations
-    Support in the capture and development of detailed knowledge in the testing facilities’ capabilities in conjunction with clients and other test facilities world-wide

About You

Essential (at appointment):
Numerate degree, or equivalent experience
Essential: Membership of relevant professional body with chartered status or equivalent.
Desirable: Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation, IAM Certificate Key Capabilities:


-    A recognised electrical engineering degree
-    Preferably 5-10 years of HV laboratory managerial experience
-    Preferably Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation in the past
-    Energy systems technological and commercial awareness
-    HV and mechanical tests related experience
-    Good communication skills at all levels both internally and externally including presentation experience and ability
-    Effective planning and organisational skills, including time and project management
-    Delivery and customer focussed

A competitive salary between £48,300 – £61,399 – dependent on capability
