About the Role


As Senior Cost Analyst, you will be the gatekeeper of the cost library and hold responsibility for ensuring cost data is kept safe, maintained and of high quality. You will control the access to the NGG (National Grid Gas) equipment unit taxonomy and hold responsibility for ensuring the taxonomy is preserved, maintained and that all changes are operated through agreed protocols.Setting up tracking systems, you will populate KPI information and publish performance information regarding adherence to the 'Golden Principles'. 


You will ensure the quality of Unit Cost Data is robust to improve Regulators confidence in the justification of unit costs including retaining and making easily accessible all analysis and backup information. Supporting regulatory engagement from a cost and taxonomy perspective, you will present comprehensive quantitive and qualitative transparent and supported data. 


Other responsibilities include providing predictive costing services, provided cost intellligence and handling internal and external (e.g. Ofgem) requests to alter the NGG equipment unit taxonomy and ensure these requests are thoroughly and appropriately assessed and recommendations are provided to the business. 


About You


We are looking for someone who has experience in...

  • Project accounting practices within the construction, energy and utilities environment;
  • Financial management and/or estimating;
  • Working with cost data;
  • Establishing and maintaining rules for cost analysis, overhead cost allocation/apportionment and comparing cost data;
  • Undertaking cost data analysis, querying data to reach satisfactory conclusions with relevant internal functions and operational business units, variance analysis of standard and actual costs;
  • Handling high volumes of data;
  • Working on core costs systems (SAP);
  • Using MS Excel.


You must have excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability in developing strong working relationships quickly and effectively. 




  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Educated to degree level in Finance, Project Controls, an Engineering, Scientific or Numerical field is preferred, although relevant experience, aptitude and/or training/qualifications will be considered
