Job Description

About the role

As a Senior Buyer, you’ll tackle our largest and most complex buying challenges, managing a portfolio of up to £1billion. Big projects, big budgets, big ideas: this is an opportunity to lead the development of our growing commercial procurement operations. So, whether you’re sourcing solar panels or supplying our evolving computer networks, you’ll help bring power to millions – and supercharge your career at the same time. But the benefits don’t stop there.

Here, you’ll:

  • Receive an annual performance bonus up to 6% of your salary.
  • Enjoy a generous pension scheme, double matched up to 6% of your salary every month.
  • Be offered flexible working arrangements and benefits like bicycles, salary sacrifice cars and healthcare.
  • Get support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books and study leave.
  • Develop through training sessions and line manager planning.

As part of a large-scale and ambitious procurement outfit, here, we’ll empower you to shape our future sourcing strategy and proactively mentor your own team. Together, we can tackle the unique and shifting challenges of an evolving network, keeping energy flowing to homes and businesses, 24/7, 365 days a year. That’s a job anyone can be proud of.

About you

What we do isn’t just important – it’s essential. That’s why we look to train and recruit current – or potential – experts in their field. In this case, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Has significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management.
  • Has led a highly complex or valuable procurement event from start to finish.
  • Has developed high value category-specific strategies and led negotiations at a senior level.
  • Has handled multiple projects and a portfolio of suppliers.
  • Is MCIPS-qualified (or working towards this.)

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £38,000 – £48,000 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
