ScottishPower's Customer Business Regulation Team is growing to support the evolution within the energy market, including the transition to net zero. You can help in that by supporting ScottishPower influence the evolving policy and regulatory framework and define its strategic approach within that framework. This role will support the Head of Regulation and the Regulation Managers in identifying, prioritising and communicating regulatory policy and advice across ScottishPower's Customer Business, and providing expert support in managing business aims within the requirements of our regulatory obligations. The role will require dealing with Directors and senior management on regulatory issues and liaising with external bodies such as Ofgem. 


What you'll be doing 

You'll work closely with other analysts within the Regulation team to support the Regulation Managers in developing strong working relationships with Ofgem and Government officials to understand their thinking and identify win-win opportunities for ScottishPower.   


Your role will be to: 


  • review and assess proposals from Ofgem and the Government to capture the regulatory position on key policy issues and, working within the team and with business experts, including at Director level, use your excellent communication skills to draft high quality responses to influence to support our business aims.  
  • ensure our operational teams understand all regulatory issues and their implications, providing advice and guidance to ensure ongoing compliance and support development of new products and services aligned to our strategy for the future energy retail market 
  • manage our responses to regular and ad-hoc information requests from Ofgem   

What you'll bring 

  • Understanding of the regulatory and commercial framework and structure supporting the operation of the gas and electricity industry 

  • Knowledge of Customer Business operations spanning the customer lifecycle i.e. marketing, sales, pricing, products, registration, billing, metering, debt collection, customer service, call centres, complaints and transfers   

  • Excellent ability to communicate at all levels both orally and in writing, including sound presentation skills. 

  • A high standard of written English to enable the presentation of arguments and ideas in a clear, logical and persuasive manner at a variety of levels within the business. 

  • The ability to manage a number of key internal and external stakeholders and deliver results while maintaining and building on existing relationships. 

  • The ability to represent the views of the Customer Business during discussions with representatives from external organisations, and use discretion as to what information is made available
