Main purpose and scope of job
Within this key customer facing role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a company vehicle and assist in providing an effective Refuse / Recycling collection service to the residents of Herefordshire as necessary.
Duties and key responsibilities - Operational
You will be responsible for ensuring you drive within the law and regulations at all times and ensuring the loads carried also comply with all legal and environmental requirements.
You will be responsible for ensuring that any vehicle you drive and equipment you use, is mechanically safe and sound as far as is required by you as a driver & you fully know how to use that equipment, before the vehicle is used on or off road.
? LGV class 2 license, with past experience, driving a class 2 vehicle
? Drivers CPC with 35 hours training
? Knowledge of the county of Herefordshire
? The ability to fill in paperwork as required
? Operate PDA type devices (Training will be given)
Satisfactory completion of the relevant Competency Management System modules.
Completion of all other training as defined within the Training Matrix.
Relevant Knowledge of Herefordshire
Location – You will be expected to work from the Grafton Depot or any other location within the Herefordshire County.
Duty times – Monday to Friday 06.15 to 16.00 with 45 minute break during the day
It will be a condition of your employment to work overtime if required to do so to ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled. Saturday and Sunday working only required to cover for Christmas working arrangements.
You will be responsible for keeping your training current as per company requirements and ensure your manager is informed of any shortfalls.
You are required to have completed 35 hours of Driver CPC training upon commencement of your employment or evidence that you are working towards its completion.
You will be responsible for ensuring that you have completed the required CPC training.
Digital Tachograph Card
You are required to hold a valid digital tachograph card, although the majority of vehicles operate on domestic hours, which will require log books to be filled in. you will be responsible for ensuring your Digital Tachograph card is kept valid and in date.
