We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to provide support to our Capital Delivery projects in National Grid Ventures, this includes developing a number of Offshore Hybrid Assets (Lionlink and Nautilus) amongst others and upgrades of our existing Interconnector fleet.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will provide contract and commercial guidance to the project teams in supporting the development and delivery of connection and infrastructure projects safely, on time and within budget. You will support the Contract Team Manager in all commercial and contractual activities on the projects and in time will be required to work alongside our JV Partners throughout the project programme.

The role is hybrid so you can enjoy working from our office in Warwick as well as from home.Travel to our national sites will be required on a regular basis. European travel may be required from time to time.

Please note you must have a full UK driving licence and be able to drive for this role.

What you'll do

• You'll support procurement activities associated with the projects, acting as the key representative providing guidance on commercial and contract management considerations and advising on contract options, scope, tender questions and budget estimates, including risk and contingency allowances.
• Hold responsibility for the drafting of contracts, quality assurance of contracts, including maintaining accurate contractor data records, providing commercial and contract management support, guidance and coaching to the project delivery team and ensuring contractor costs are robustly managed across the portfolio of projects.
• You'll ensure contract compliance, monitoring of spend against agreed budgets, KPIs and other metrics. Helping your project team develop and maintain cost forecasts will be a key responsibility.
• Produce all necessary contract forms such as assessments, valuations and payment recommendations and instructions and communications for the assigned project, leading on providing independent reviews and advice on variations and compensation events, supporting any escalation procedures and dispute avoidance and resolution processes.
• Manage the contractual changes and provide expert advice to the Project Manager and delivery teams. Fully administer contractual performance, ensuring contractor and client-side obligations are understood and complied with. Ensure the Contract Management System is utilised to it's full scope and support the PM with these activities.
• Opportunity to line manager other teams members such as Contracts Analyst and contract administrators.

What you'll need

• You'll be an experienced Quantity Surveyor, who has previously delivered several projects. Ideally proven experience in development and construction projects for the Client side, however this is not essential to this role and you may have experience in another capacity such as a contractor or consultant role and background.
• You'll be able to demonstrate experience of contract and commercial management and acumen, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and procurement, you will have track record of strong relationship building. You possess strong analytical, negotiation communication skills and must be a team player.
• Ideally you will have great experience and knowledge of contractual change, cost management, claims and dispute resolution.
• You should have a degree in quantity surveying or a related field/ discipline such as construction management. Working knowledge of standard form-contracts, including NEC, FIDIC and other forms desirable but not essential.
• You must also have a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK. There is an expectation that you'll be able to travel to site as and when required, but as part of our hybrid working model, you'll also have the flexibility to work from home, a National Grid office, or site.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £54,090 - £63,940 per annum- dependent on capability.
