Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Salary: Up to £40k depending on experience
Location: Sunderland, SR5 3RX
We have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly Northern PowerGrid team, who enjoys the fast pace of a high-volume/low value environment and supporting colleagues to develop their knowledge and continuously improve.
This is a non-traditional QS role that is focused on the commercial/administrative functions, as opposed to being out on-site.
Reporting into the Finance and Commercial Manager, who will give you autonomy and encouragement to seek continuous process improvements, you will play a key role in achieving our vision to deliver smarter, greener infrastructure brilliantly.
Here are some of the activities that you'll be involved with....
• Supporting the Commercial Team on contract application.
• Management of subcontract accounts, including re-charges, retention and final accounts.
• Management of disputes and internal auditing.
• Maintaining Early Warning/Compensation event register.
• Overseeing weekly valuations and confirming accuracy of measurements.
• Cost analysis and reduction initiatives.
• Rates analysis and contract review.
• Production of CVR’s for all projects.
• Ensuring compliance with controlled documents and procedures.
• Proactive in developing new systems to meet changing operational needs.
• Developing others and knowledge sharing.
We would love to hear from you if ...
Ideally you will have several years experience in a similar role and preferably of managing 'high-volume low-value' projects and schemes.
Exceptional Excel skills are essential along with recognition and understanding of the consequences of contractual change.
Clear and concise communication and excellent stakeholder management skills are required, along with a positive outlook and enjoyment of analysing problems and offering solutions.
A relevant QS qualification such as a degree would be advantageous but not essential.
