About You


As the Quantity Surveyor working in our Pipeline Maintenance Centre (PMC) with Gas Transmission (GT), you will expand on existing Customer relationships and form new relationships with Customers taking direction from the Commercial Manager in the pursuit of identifying and successfully securing additional contracts / organic growth from existing contracts.

About the Role


This role will be based out of our Knowsley, Merseyside depot. However, travel would be expected allowing you to visit stakeholders and work from other sites when required.


Supporting PMC as a Commerical Specialist, means you'll estimate and adjudicate quotations for new works working closely with key PMC operational staff, oversee the change management to works ensuring changes are properly dealt managed and undertake analysis on planned vs actual performance in terms of time and cost, ensuring the pursuit and estimating phase of the works.


Alongside managing the billing of works to Customers is correct, you'll undertake end life value forecasting and work closely with the Finance Team to ensure accruals are managed, enabling them to ensure accurate end life cost forecasting is produced for the team!  Part of your role will include assisting the Debt Team in collecting cash and dealing with invoice queries when required, so having being able to manage customers and stakeholders is essential!


Skills and Experience


  • Experience in building up estimates from first principles including commercial risk assessment, pricing risks and qualifying estimates
  • Experience in tendering either leading or taking part in tendering events
  • Familiar with valuing works and producing end life value forecasts
  • Progress reporting on live works
  • In depth understanding of the offer and acceptance requirements when bidding for works
  • In depth understanding of change management and familiarity with NEC 3
  • Understanding of SAP



  • Excellent IT skills and in particular Excel
  • A-level or equivalent in English & Maths
  • Educated to degree level in a Commercial or Project Controls field 
  • Valid UK driving licence
