The Quantity Surveying (QS) position sits within SPD, reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. The job holder will deliver commercial support, expertise and knowledge from pre-tender to final account for a portfolio of network asset installation. Providing effective commercial advice and delivering against the business targets.


Controlling external contract expenditure through appropriate scope control, change management, technical and financial verification processes in District geographic area, you will be required to monitor and implement contractual obligations with respect to notifications, payments and commercial correspondence.

Whilst auditing District behaviour, providing timely and constructive challenge on commercial processes and administration of contracts, you will also manage the contractual relationships to resolve disputes promptly and directly interface with senior contractor delivery staff.

Agreeing value of works done for interim and progress payments with contractors, you will represent SP Energy Networks at negotiation meetings, involving the team in finding solutions to areas where performance is not on target and take responsibility for your personal development.

Skills and Requirements

We are looking for individuals who have experience of working with various stakeholder groups and who can build effective working relationships with these groups. You will be highly numerate and will have the ability to respond quickly and flexibly to problems, solving them while prioritising effectively between competing deadlines. You will also possess the following:

* Expertise working with FIDIC Yellow Book, FIDIC Short Form and NEC Option B
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* Awareness of construction legislation
* Degree in quantity surveying or equivalent

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as minimum:

* Degree in quantity surveying or equivalent
* Experience of being a Quantity Surveyor in a contractor role

What we Offer

This is a permanent contract with a salary ranging from £44,716 to £55,895 per annum, depending on experience.
