Job Title - Project Engineer Apprentice (Degree Level)

Location - Veolia, Pitsea, SS16 4UW with regional & some national travel required

Hours - Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

 Apprenticeship programme 

During this 5 -year programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as your future career. Throughout this programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working, problem-solving and customer focus. Veolia as a business is not only interested in what you accomplish, but the manner you do it in.  

As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional experience, you’ll also gain academic and vocational qualifications such as BSc (Hons) Environmental Science (or equivalent degree title)

Key Responsibilities  

  • Assist in the design and build of infrastructure on landfill sites and implementation of management strategies to support this. 

  • Provide technical support to landfill sites across the region and nationally with regards to the control and management of landfill gas. 

  • Work alongside senior members of the team, you will be looking at how to maximise income from the export and sale of renewable electricity from gas utilisation on both operational and closed landfills. 

  • Assist in the management of projects and coordinate contractors in the installation of infrastructure and third-party renewable energy.

  • Assist in delivering projects internally, gaining exposure to wider parts of the business to provide ongoing support in respect of technical issues, providing advice on the planning and budgeting process.

  • Coordinate and in time, oversee core maintenance of gas infrastructure, installation of pipework and other landfill gas management.

Qualifications

What is required 

To be eligible for our Project Engineer Degree Apprenticeship Programme you will need a passion for contemporary environmental issues, be computer literate, a passion for working outdoors and strong motivation for the role. You will also need to meet our entry criteria: 

  • 5 GCSE grade A*- C or grades 4 - 9 (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science / Predicted grades.

  • Completing or working towards A-Levels would be advantageous. 

  • Due to the responsibilities of this role and the health and safety involved, you will need to be over the age of 18 and have a full driving licence.
