What you'll be doing 

Joining the Procurement team and reporting to a Category Manager with a focus on gaining competitive advantage and cost reductions in the acquisition of goods, works and services through the professional management of purchasing and supply chain activities. This includes the management of tender activity and the negotiation of contracts and associated commercial issues. 

 

Working closely with the wider business to ensure that essential goods and services are available and assisting in the development of appropriate contracting strategies and negotiating one-off contracts and framework agreements that meet the required timescales and specifications and delivering targeted cost savings on behalf of the business unit. 

 

Competently coordinate and manage a high volume of ITTs from the business; including using our eProcurement tool to issue the tender enquiries to the supply chain and ensure adherence to strict tender dates and project start dates.  Establish good working relationships with stakeholders from within the business including Project Managers, Legal, Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality to align responses to technical evaluations of bids.

Proficient in MS Excel and capable of undertaking commercial analysis of tender submissions and engaging with supply chain for Best and Final Offers to ensure best value for money to the business.  Able to communicate recommendations to stakeholders through MS Powerpoint/MS Word on strategy papers and contracts for approval.

Facilitate contract award and an understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.

   

What you'll bring 

You will already possess an understanding of best practice procurement principles, practices and processes including both tactical and strategic procurement principles and have experience of the full tendering process 

 

You will have experience negotiating with  commercial acumen, and you enjoy leading full or part of the contract negotiations in conclusion of contracts and hold yourself to strong performance standards with a focus on delivery, balancing conflicting requirements of quality cost and time; making decisions in tight timescales flexibly to respond to changing needs. 

 

You're a team player ideally with some experience of working in a multi-functional project team desirable and you're able to mitigate risks whilst tapping into your knowledge of contract law. You'll be a good communicator both written and verbal, with strong numeracy skills as well as being able to use technology, including excel, to your advantage.
