We are currently seeking a Process Technician to work across our
North Oxford sites. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team that together help produce millions of litres of water for customers across Oxfordshire each day.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of technicians, you'll ensure effective and continuous operation of sites, operating and optimising all processes and equipment on water treatment works, reservoirs and booster stations to ensure water quality, compliance, safety and operational efficiency.
Full training is provided including completion of the ‘licence to operate’ training programme.
This role also includes supervision of chemical deliveries, use of breathing apparatus for work with gases, working at height, and driving heavy goods vehicles.
Once trained you will be expected to participate in an out of hours standby rota (currently 1 in 6 weeks) for which an extra payment will be provided.What you’ll be doing as a Process Technician
- Operation of plant and equipment, such as turning valves and opening hatches
- Complete site rounds of reservoir, water treatment works and water booster sites. You'll accurately monitor and record data to ensure we comply with regulatory standards
- Carrying out sampling and handheld instrument checks to monitor water quality
- Manual fault finding and intervention to maintain the treatment process or customer supply. You'll also have to respond to emergencies, whether this is process failures or power failures. In such circumstances, you'll follow established procedures to escalate, and stabilise
- Completion of mandatory and planned, preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks
- Taking responsibility for your own health and safety. You'll highlight safety observations and take action to make the area safe where possible.
- Liaise with other departments, particularly Water Quality and Maintenance, to find solutions for issues and deliver the best results for site
- Receiving chemical deliveries, working at height e.g. water towers and driving heavy goods vehicles or towing trailers
Base location: Farmoor – Oxford
Working pattern: 38 hours per week
What you should bring to the role
- Demonstrate a ‘can-do’ attitude, have strong problem-solving abilities, and take a solution focused approach
- A mechanical background or experience in a similar field
- Good communication skills
- Competent to use company IT systems and Microsoft Office
- Willingness to carry out lone working, working at height, chemical delivery and confined space working
- A full UK driving licence
- ADR training (desirable but not essential)
