To do that Northern Powergrid is offering a tailored programme to become a fully qualified Electrical Engineer which includes a two-year Foundation Degree in Electrical Power Engineering funded by us, in addition to industrial and technical placements within our business.
As a Power Engineer Apprentice, you’ll gain a broad range of invaluable experience and knowledge in a variety of structured placements and formal courses.
You’ll be working outside with our industrial and engineering colleagues and will get involved with the design aspects of power engineering. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to experience first-hand, the work of our external suppliers and partner organisations, gaining a broader understanding of how our assets are designed and manufactured.
Once you’ve successfully completed your training programme you’ll be appointed to a challenging and rewarding engineering role within our business.
Have you got what it takes to apply?
To qualify you will have a minimum of three GCSEs (Grade 5 or above) or equivalent (Grade C or above) which must include Mathematics and English, as well as one of the following:
• Two A-Levels or 2 AS/A2: Grades A*- C (one must be in either Mathematics, Physics or Engineering)
• BTEC National Certificate Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Merit or above)
• Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Merit or above)
• ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Merit or above)
*It is essential the Mathematics modules are at Merit or Distinction

Expected start date: Spring, Summer and Autumn 2022. You will be notified week commencing 10 January 2022 if you have been successful and will move to the next stage of the selection process.
