About the role


Platform Cloud Senior Engineer, Permanent, Warwick


We are seeking an innovative, and talented Platform Cloud Lead Engineer to join the Security Platform End-User Engineering team, as part of a global transformation programme within Cyber Security. You will be the lead technical resource for the complex and diverse platforms and systems here at National Grid, and the successful candidate will possess deep technical knowledge on several cyber security technologies, with a thorough understanding of Information Security and Networking.


The purpose of the role is to provides leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers in the platform security organisation, and be the Subject Matter Expert, highly skilled in the installation and configuration of end-point/end-user security tools such as antivirus, configuration management, and asset recognition.


The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background within Information Security and be skilled at supporting enterprise security applications and services, with experience securing applications, data at rest and in transit at the workstation, server and cloud.

About you


You will be a skilled multi-tasker with a keen eye for detail that thrives in a fast-paced work environment. You will need to have working experience and knowledge of operating systems (e.g.: Windows, UNIX/Linux) and databases, and ideally knowledge in various scripting and programming languages (Java, Perl, Python, C++).


You will have experience designing secure networks, systems and resilient application architectures, and ideally have worked in a system administration role supporting multiple platforms and applications. An understanding of the entire technology stack of networks, databases, applications and end-points, and experience of planning, researching and developing security policies, standards and procedures is essential.
