Taking a pro-active and reactive approach to engineering challenges, you will carry out duties of a Senior Authorised Person and Control Person as defined in the ScottishPower Electrical safety rules, allowing for a safe system of work for preventative or corrective activity associated with electrical infrastructure.

Supporting technical engineering solutions as they arise in real time, contributing to the development, mentoring and ongoing auditing of contracting and internal staff authorised under Electrical safety rules, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of key asset management interventions to ensure key metrics are met.

Responsibilities

Responsible for site-wide safety/technical inspections/audits across the ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) portfolio, producing reports which detail issues and associated programmes to close-out, you will co-ordinate the response and resolution of emergent, dynamic electrical issues identified by the Site Operations Site Supervisory' and Control Centre' functions.

With indirect management of Electrical sub-contractors, in support of SPR Site Supervisory staff, you will ensure that all Electrical site activities are planned and carried out in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring optimal performance of the site without compromising safety.

Contributing to the development, mentoring and ongoing assessment of contracting and internal staff (Field Supervisors, Operational Technicians, Operational Technicians and Apprentices), you will carry out relevant diagnostic and fault finding techniques using specialist kit to determine root cause analysis and establish the correct corrective strategy.

Supporting the Electrical Networks Operations Manager in the creation and ongoing development of policy and processes associated with the management of the electrical infrastructure, you will also be required to provide technical input as requested to the Technical Services and Construction Engineering teams, ensuring that prior to handover to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, all documents, drawings and schematics are accurate and correct as well as witnessing, where practicable the commissioning of plant and apparatus.

Providing emergency call-out response for allocated sites, in the event of site emergencies, you will plan and manage all resources associated with electrical work, ensuring requests from field teams are acknowledged and prioritised, ensuring the safety of the system and operatives, followed by availability and generation.

What you'll bring

Educated to HND or equivalent in an Electrical related engineering discipline, or demonstrate equivalent operational experience, you will also be City and Guilds accredited or equivalent in HV Network Operations.

With an ability to travel unrestricted across the UK and Ireland, you will hold practical experience of operating and maintaining industrial HV and LV systems up to 33kV (132kV is desirable with a DNO or generating company).

With experience of having held a Senior Authorised Person (S1 with no exclusions or limitations) HV authorisation, and/or Control Person authorisation, you will be able to work at heights (in excess of 70m) and within enclosed spaces on an infrequent basis.
