As an Operational Policy Engineer, you will report to the Operational Safety Manager and work within Health and Safety team with a flexibility on your work location, and could be any our regional offices, including Cambridge, Borehamwood, Bury St Edmunds, London, Crawley, and Maidstone. You will be a permanent employee, attracting a competitive salary based on your experience, with bandings ranging from £65,241 to £94,904 including a car allowance and a 3% bonus. In this role, you will provide competent operational safety advice to managers, staff, contractors, and the public in all three licensed areas (LPN, EPN, and SPN), including UKPN Services. You will work within the Operational Safety Team, engaging with all directorates and external bodies, providing '3rd line of defence' advice for all operational safety-related matters. You will prepare and review operational procedures on underground and overhead systems at relevant voltages, and depending on your experience, you will deputise for the Designated Engineer as required. Your principal accountabilities will include providing network health and safety advice, reviewing and developing procedures, monitoring compliance, engaging with the wider business and union safety representatives, implementing SHE strategy objectives, supporting technical training, liaising with asset management, and participating in strategic innovations.
If you have the necessary skills, qualifications, and experience, including an ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering, IOSH Managing Safely certificate, NEBOSH Certificate, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 Internal Auditor qualification, and a valid UK driving licence, we want to hear from you.
