Job Description

The Smart Metering project is a new but extremely important initiative for Affinity Water. This is a key role within the new Smart Metering team, responsible for ensuring we can maximise the benefits for our customers, our environment, and our business from the installation of smart meters. The postholder will report to the Smart Metering Delivery Lead, under the Asset Strategy & Capital Delivery Directorate.

We are currently seeking an Operational Planner within our Smart Metering Programme team. Your role will involve organising the installation of smart meters in customers' homes. By utilising data from multiple systems, you will create a comprehensive work schedule for both direct and supply chain plumbing teams, ensuring they have sufficient work, and their diaries are managed efficiently.

You will collaborate with direct and supply chain stakeholders to optimise resource allocation for peak efficiency.

Experience required:

  • Planning and Scheduling: Experience in successfully planning and scheduling for engineers, technicians, plumbers etc and other personnel in a multimillion- pound civil operations environment
  • Customer Service: Exceptional understanding of what constitutes a great customer experience and how effective planning and scheduling can enhance this 
  • Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of civil construction processes, including plumbing, excavation teams, and reinstatement procedures 
  • Industry Knowledge: Good knowledge of the water industry, including water regulations and performance commitments
  • Regulatory Compliance: Good understanding of customer regulatory requirements and standards within the water industry 
  • Performance Management: Proven record in successful planning and scheduling, consistently adhering to KPIs for large-scale civil operations 
  • Risk Management: Skilled in identifying potential risks in planning and scheduling processes and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks 
  • Cost Awareness: Demonstrated ability to reduce costs by minimising planning, scheduling errors, and ensuring tasks are completed correctly the first time 
  • Client and Supply Chain System Management: Ability to effectively interrogate and use multiple IT systems to plan and schedule work efficiently 
  • Software Proficiency: High proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software for various professional tasks
