Network Manager


 The Network Manager role will have a dual focus across Management of Affinity Water’s Field Technicians and Client Management of our Supply Partners. A key part of this role will be the identification, mobilisation and management of restoration solutions. 

You will be a key player in the Community Operations Regional Team responsible for overseeing the quality and effectiveness of all work that takes place on the Affinity Water below ground infrastructure. This will be primarily focused on the works being delivered within Community Operations (Restoration, Repair and Maintenance as well project work) but will extend to include other workstreams where necessary including: 

  • Developer Services
  • Mains Renewals
  • Projects – HS2, WSP etc

 As a key part of the Regional leadership team you will work closely and collaboratively with your peers to ensure the right outcomes across safety, customer, quality and cost drivers. 

Your next role:

As a Network Manager your role will be to ensure repair activities align to attain quality standards, satisfy relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and are carried out safely to ensure everyone goes home safe every day.

 You will be using key systems daily including Maximo, GIS, SA & CIT to get a detailed analysis of the working of the network and formulate a plan to respond to any planned or unplanned interruption to supply

 As part of the Management team you will be providing feedback, coaching, mentoring and support to Field Technicians and Gangs, developing people to be the best they can be. You’ll also ensure appropriate event management controls are in place to deal with incidents in line with Affinity Water’s policies and procedures. 

You’ll use judgement, knowledge and experience to make urgent decisions sometimes when you do not have access to all of the information about a given situation.  You will need to risk assess complex situations and balance the cost of restoration work and resources.

Health & Safety

  • Create a culture that strives for zero harm and challenges anything that doesn’t meet this standard
  • Regular auditing of teams and sites
  • Lead safety toolbox talks and briefings
  • Ensure compliance with Competent Operator Scheme
  • Conduct investigations, root cause analysis and reporting of safety performance inc. utility strikes and accidents

 Customer Issues / Resolution

  • Create a culture that has the customers experience at its core
  • Lead the resolution of relevant customer issues
  • Meet customers when required to explain repair solutions etc.

 Team Productivity

  • Manage Field Technician WIP in conjunction with Planning
  • Attend meetings with third parties where required e.g. Highway Authorities
  • Attend Traffic Management and enabling meetings where required
  • Review Standard Hours/ Jobs completed per day
  • Review Declines, DH & NA
  • Review teams only Completing 1 job or less
  • Review all same day reinstatements
  • Ensure teams are reacting to emergency / urgent works
  • Participate in daily Planning POD’s

 I2S Management

  • Be aware of all I2S in region with focus on >3 and 12 hr targets
  • Ensure suppliers are on site within 1 Hour
  • Actively participate in wash up meetings
  • Support ROM with all incidents applying a joint and coordinated response
  • Ensure that all pumps- plant- equipment – fittings etc. are available in Region
  • Identify, mobilise and manage restoration solutions


  • Ensure teams work to Affinity Water policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ensure all equipment including restoration items are suitably stored, cleaned and maintained in line with strict procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Competent Operators Scheme
  • Complete regular audits
  • Investigate all audit fails and share learning
  • Ensure safe working access to the clean water pressurised distribution network and oversee all tasks to ensure water quality incidents are zero.

Manages teams to ensure that any discharges do not compromise any environmental regulations.

 What you’ll need:

In order to prove yourself as a successful Network Manager you will have to have a self-disciplined, self-motivated approach to situations whilst recognising personal limitations and escalating when required.

 You will have an in depth experience in operations within the water industry, proving great knowledge of network techniques spanning operation, maintenance, repair and restoration.

 You will demonstrate a track record of improving individual’s performance through training and coaching, showing you have experience at team leader/ supervisor or manager level.

 As a Network Manager you will have an inquisitive mindset that strives to disrupt the ‘norm’ to find new ideas to overcome present or future business challenges, whether that be as part of a proactive team or working in isolation.

 You will also need:

  • NRSWA Supervisor level
  • Driving License
  • EUSR water hygiene
