Job Description

Job Purpose

 

You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operation and maintenance of all Wastewater Network powered assets e.g. pumping stations, combined sewer overflows and detention tanks within a defined geographical area. You will ensure the smooth operation of assets minimising any impact on the customer and ensuring excellent customer service at all times. You will provide the first call response, carrying out basic electrical and mechanical maintenance activities in response to reactive incidents

 

Job Accountabilities

 

Providing first call response, carrying out basic electrical and mechanical maintenance activities in response to reactive incidents, you will be accountable for Root cause analysis and raising further work as appropriate for the appropriate skill set in order to resolve issues and prevent repeat failures. You will also be accountable for:

 

 

  • Ensuring compliance with United Utilities health and safety policies and procedures at all times including the accurate and reliable completion of all regulatory data and statutory health & safety data on company systems
  •                
  • Completion of planned and proactive operational and mechanical maintenance activities.
  •                
  • Reviewing alarm data at powered assets and identifying any amendments as necessary to the area Technical Officer (Maintenance).
  •                
  • Liaising with the Wastewater Network Teams and internal and external customers / stakeholders as required.
  •                
  • Ensure that all assets at each powered asset / site facility are registered / de-registered correctly on United Utilities corporate system.
  •                
  • Proactively looking at ways of reducing the number of pollution and/or flooding incidents arising from pumping stations and other powered asset failures.
  •                
  • Responsible person for issuing internal and external permit to work and access certificates to framework contractors, Ensure that all powered assets are compliant with their regulatory EA permit conditions at all times.
  •                
  • Ensure that operational and mechanical investment needs are correctly identified for powered assets, and investment needs are submitted and reviewed regularly.
  •                
  • Delivering excellent customer service and first time reactive resolution, keeping the internal and/or external customer informed throughout, improving levels of customer satisfaction.
  •                
  • Attend planned customer appointments, and respond to any internal and / or external customer complaints and/or escalations regarding any powered assets.
 

Knowledge and Skills

 

In order to succeed in this role it is essential that you are able to demonstrate basic maintenance understanding of the operation of powered assets, and a general understanding of wastewater network activities. You will hold a minimum of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 qualification in Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent in a relevant technical area). You will also be able to demonstrate:

 

 

  • Flexible approach to a highly varied workload and the ability to work on your own initiative.

  • Good communication skills - able to develop contacts across teams and departments.

  • Good IT skills
  •                
  • Hold a full UK driving License
