Description
Are you a qualified electrician looking to work with a great team of metering technicians? We're looking for a technician to join our team in attending on-site domestic and commercial installations to repair, maintain and commission our metering equipment and associated communications network which forms the basis of the SMART metering infrastructure.
As a Metering Technician you will ensure we are able to collect accurate data for invoicing and proactively manage potential revenue protection concerns whilst ensuring regulatory compliance and high safety standards whilst upholding the Company's purpose, vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission single and poly phase metering equipment including but not limited to PAYG, cyclo, CT and HV installations.
- Report to supervisor on a daily basis to ensure jobs are completed and standards of service / policy and procedures are complied with.
- Liaise with internal and external parties to provide assistance and services relating to the service delivery business.
- Ensure metering is electrically safe and does not endanger the JE Network or introduce a risk to property or the life of our customers as well as making sure all sites are left clean and tidy and jobs are carried out in line with company approved Generic Risk Assessments following departmental procedures.
- Provide information, assistance, and support to customers in all aspects of the service delivery business so as to give the customer a positive experience.
- Install, configure and fault find on network connected WAN modems, GPRS modems and LV connected LDCs so as to provide accurate daily readings and demand profiling with which to accurately bill our customers
- Initial LV wiring and testing of new sub-stations (including re-wiring during asset replacement works) to a safe and high standard in line with BS 7671 Regulations and Distribution Safety Rules
- Install, test and commission domestic, commercial and utility wiring to a high standard in line with BS 7671 Regulations and Distribution Safety Rules.
- Employ a working knowledge of current testing and inspecting requirements to BS7671.
- Assist in the development and product testing of new and existing metering systems across the business.
- Represent the JE Corporate vision and values in all aspects of the service delivery business.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Excellent IT skills and ability to self-teach.
- Thorough understanding all tariff / wiring configurations including relevant JE Metering /Distribution Procedures
- Previous Utility Metering experience
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective interpersonal and team building skills
- Highly motivated and flexible approach to work as an independent thinker.
- Strong customer service focus
- Ability to work on own with minimal supervision and able to manage daily work schedules.
- Experience in IT Comms and Electrical Distribution.
- C&G (Level 3) in Electrical Distribution or equivalent
- Up to date knowledge of current BS7671 regulations (18th Ed)
- C&G 2391 Testing & inspecting qualification to enable operation under approved testing body (i.e NAPIT or NICEIC).
- Clean driving licence

- SSAC (DSR)
- LVSW (DSR)
- Comp TIA Network+ or equivalent
