Job Description

Main Purpose and Scope of Job
The role of the LGV driver is to transport waste and commodities from FCC sites to off takers facilities. Weighing waste before leaving site and making an accurate account of daily activities.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
i. Be an excellent time keeper. Being punctual is very important to our operation
ii. Be flexible when requested to do so. This would be a reasonable request to perhaps have a later or earlier start to suit the operation as directed that may occur at short notice.
iii. Maintain records and ensure that paperwork is completed in line company policy and procedures.
iv. Undertake and document daily vehicle inspections in line with company policy and procedures and tacho card downloads are completed daily.
v. Drive safely at all times
vi. Ensure that you are aware of drivers hours and working time regulations and that you are compliant at all times.
vii. Notify, as soon as practically possible, your employer if you contravene any legal requirement that may lead to penalty points being applied.
1) To assist the company in controlling and co-coordinating the safe and efficient operation of the site in accordance with management instructions, health & safety and legislative requirements laid down in working plans, planning permissions, waste management license etc, including as a minimum ensuring personal compliance with the above.
2) To be aware of, and conversant with, the relevant details of the Waste Management License, Working Plan, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, emergency procedures and other relevant health, safety & environmental documents as directed by the Site Supervisor.
3) To protect the Company’s ability to trade by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation at all times and especially that concerning health and safety in the workplace and the ‘Duty of Care’.
4) To work in accordance with staff rosters and the provision of cover for planned/unplanned absence.
5) To assist customers and the public site users wherever safe, practical and necessary.
6) To carry out any other duties required for the day-to-day safe operation of the site.
7) To report to the Contract Manager / Area Supervisors / Transport Manager or Team Leaders any breach of rules, act of dishonesty, malpractice or corruption by any member of the public, visitor to the site, or member of staff.
8) To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by FCC management, including working in other areas of the site and at other sites.
9) Area of work will be determined on a daily basis but it is anticipated that the base location for the post holder will be Kirkless TFS, Makerfield Way, Wigan, WN2 2PR.
10) To comply with all company policies and procedures in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the site.
11) Attend appropriate training sessions as deemed appropriate by their Line Manager.
A more detailed list of daily duties would be given during on the job training.

Experience and Qualifications
• Driving Licence with Class C entitlement (Class CE Desirable)
• No more than 6 active penalty points
• Must have 35 hours of Driver CPC card for continued driving entitlement.
• (Desirable) active qualification of ADR

Essential Knowledge
• Satisfactory completion of the relevant Competency Management System modules.
• Completion of all other training as defined within the Training Matrix.
• A solid geographical grasp of the local road network

• Ability to work on our initiative and as part of a team.
• Ability to work safely and report H&S issues.
• Ability to communicate well with staff, customers, contractors, visitors to site.
• Well mannered and polite.
• Be prepared to be trained on site mobile machine (not essential)
• Smartly dressed (Uniform provided).
• Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
• Ability to demonstrate flexibility in job roles and staff rota’s, covering holiday, sickness and absence where required.
• Be available for overtime, as and when required.
