Lead Driver
Salary – £42,809.00 per annum (plus benefits)

As a Lead Driver at FCC Environment, you will supervise FCC's Pepperhill transport operations, all in accordance with good practice, FCC procedures and local contract requirements. Helping to ensure corporate targets are met, especially in terms of Compliance, Contract KPI, SHEQ, profitability, cost tracking, recycling, customer service and communication. Assist the Contract & Transport Manager to ensure that all the contracts’ vehicles and material containers are maintained effectively and efficiently and adequate staffing levels are in place to deliver the service safely.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week, however, we will consider requests for job shares to suit your lifestyle (working full days).

What will you be doing?
Assisting the Contracts & Transport Manager manage and control the transport operations of the Pepperhill contract in line with operational, contractual, statutory and company requirements, the role is envisaged to be a 50/50 split between Driving & Supervision
Vehicles, Drivers and Containers
• Be responsible for the Health and Safety of yourself, employees working on the contract and the public using the site.
• Working with colleagues in Health and Safety to maintain appropriate management systems, monitoring regimes and documentation.
• Ensuring that any breaches of Health & Safety are fully recorded, investigated, and acted upon in accordance with FCC's standards, policies and procedures.
• Provide line supervision for Drivers.
• To advise and implement systems in support to the Contract & Transport Manager in the areas of:
Vehicle management (including maintenance and defects) Vehicle efficiency; Driver Compliance (including Driver CPC), Tacho Compliance Container Management, System Compliance (including FORS Accreditation)
• Monitoring and reporting, in accordance with contractual requirements, on the standards of service delivered at the sites
• Taking prompt action to prevent, investigate and rectify any shortcomings in service delivery
• Vehicle scheduling for efficiency, driver resourcing and preparation of driver paperwork
• Ensure driver compliance with vehicle checks and driver responsibility to ensure vehicles are in a roadworthy condition at all times.
• Complete checks of driver licence and conduct spot assessments.
• Participate in the management of drivers by presenting safety meetings, monitoring absence, completing spot assessments etc. ensuring that their performance is meeting the required standard
• Manage all aspects of administration, including, holidays, disciplinary actions, and all operational paperwork.
• Organisation and monitoring of the training of all new staff, as part of their induction, in tasks specific to the role ensuring that driving standards are developed and performance improved
• Organisation of continuation training for all existing staff including spot assessments, yearly refresher training and defensive driving techniques ensuring that driving standards are maintained and performance improved.
• Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents relating to the transport, assisting with detailed reports which include recommend follow-up action to prevent recurrence.
• Be aware of own P&L responsibilities
• Build relationships with the client and other contract partners.
• Work closely with internal colleagues, including; Group Plant Manager, Group Fleet Manager, Vehicle Inspectors, HR, H&S Advisor, and support services..
• To undertake any other reasonable duty as instructed by Senior Management
