Job Purpose

 

We are looking to recruit a proficient laboratory assistant working within the Life Sciences laboratory production environment contributing towards the day to day delivery of analytical outputs. The role entails undertaking sample preparation and straightforward analytical techniques whilst operating within a tightly regulated Quality System and satisfying the requirements of customers and regulators.

 

Job Accountabilities

 
  • Operating within a team of 20 to 30 with no budget control or direct reports.
  •            
  • Working to a defined Quality system whilst adhering to tight deadlines with varying sample volumes and complying with the needs of the customer and changing regulatory standards
  •            
  • Operating within a team environment and supporting activities according to best practice procedures as detailed in the Quality System.
  •            
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment used to undertake preparation and straightforward analysis tasks.
  •            
  • Maintenance of own knowledge in line with best practice and changing regulatory standards including Continuing Professional Development.
  •            
  • Straightforward technical activities to facilitate learning and development.
 

Knowledge and Skills

 
  • 5 GCSEs (A-C in Maths, English and Science/technology subject).
  •            
  • Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous with a basic understanding of ISO 17025, ISO 5667- part 3 and all other related regulatory requirements.
  •            
  • Technical Adept with IT systems, tools and databases including Nautilus, TAPS, Word, and Excel.
  •            
  • Good communication skills and planning and organisations skills.
  •            
  • Self motivated to deliver a highly flexible sample preparation and analytical service within a changing environment including flexibility in working hours/practices.
