Junior Commercial Lawyer

Location: Coventry

£37,384 - £47,461

At E.ON our inhouse specialist legal team provide legal advice and support to all areas of E.ON UK.

We are looking for a Junior Lawyer to be flexible in their approach and are afforded opportunities to support across all of E.ON’s activities, we are looking for two junior lawyers to join our team to focus on providing support to E.ON’s energy infrastructure solutions businesses.

Further detail on each of these roles is provided below. For both roles we are looking for someone with a mix of commercial and construction experience, preferably on energy infrastructure projects.

The first role (Energy Infrastructure Solutions - District Heating Role):

Will be mainly focussed on supporting E.ON’s district heating business, as well as supporting on matters arising in respect of E.ON’s existing gas and biomass generation fleet.  This will include advising on commercial and construction contracts relevant to those businesses (including energy service (ESCO) agreements, construction main contracts and subcontracts, O&M arrangements and energy supply agreements) and a basic understanding of property arrangements relevant to those projects.

The second role (Energy Infrastructure Solutions – Street Lighting & Cities Role):

This role will mainly provide support to E.ON’s street lighting activities as well as providing additional support on public sector projects.  This will include advising on commercial and construction contracts relevant to those businesses (including energy service (ESCO) agreements, construction main contracts and subcontracts, O&M arrangements, energy supply agreements, and PFI/PPP arrangements), a basic understanding of property arrangements relevant to those projects, and some advice on corporate/partnering structures that may be relevant to those projects. In periods of high demand this role may also support on district heating matters.

 



 

What do we need from you?

 

  • To be a UK qualified solicitor or barrister with some relevant experience
  • Have experience advising on corporate commercial arrangements, either in a reputable private practice setting or an in-house function
  • Can work independently but also as a reliable member of a team
  • Hardworking approach with flexibility to work to tight timescales
  • A willingness to learn and develop their knowledge in the energy sector

  • Have experience advising on energy and/or infrastructure projects
  • Are commercially focussed, innovative and solutions aware
  • Have great interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships
  • Can work in a highly change oriented business facing role and initiate innovation via continuous improvement whilst being resilient, adaptable and organised
  • Have excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Can apply technical legal expertise and knowledge to a situation whilst providing customer focused and solution orientated advice
