Job Description

Main purpose and scope of job
The purpose of this role is to operate and drive company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, whilst meeting all legislative and company standards. To meet and exceed team objectives and provide a high level of customer service at all times.

Duties and key responsibilities Operational
• Complete daily vehicle checks and defect sheets and ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.
• To promptly report any vehicle defects or damage to the line manager.
• To ensure that loads are safe and legally compliant at all times
• Check and correctly use any paperwork in relation to the loads carried
• Ensure that all legislation regarding Tachograph regulations and the working time directive are met.
• Keep vehicles clean and in good order.
• Communicate any customer issues or complaints promptly to the line manager.
• Drive in a safe and efficient manner at all times complying with all road legislation.

Experience and qualification
• HGV cat C (Class2) essential.
• Roll on container experience (preferred)
• Driver CPC
• Good communication skills, and able to understand safety instructions in English (essential)
• 3 years driving experience (preferred)
• Experience in the waste haulage industry (preferred)
• Good timekeeping and personable attributes. (essential)

Essential Knowledge / Qualification
Basic vehicle mechanics in order to carry out pre start checks.
Geographical knowledge of the Buckinghamshire area. (preferred)
EU driver’s hours and working time directive relations, for tachograph compliance.

Personal attributes and other requirements
Location – Based at operating centres in Aston Clinton or High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Days of work 5 days over a 7 day week.
The contract operates 7 days a week; Some weekend working may be required to suit the needs of the business.
