Job Description

In this role, you’ll lead a small team to implement our Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Strategy, ensuring compliance with Thames Water’s standards, processes, and procedures across London. While primarily hybrid, the role will involve regular travel to various Thames Water locations in the Thames Valley region, with occasional travel to other areas.

What you’ll be doing as a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager
  • Working with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Leadership Team to develop corporate strategies and deliver Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives within the London region.
  • Liaising with Operational Directors within the London region.
  • Managing corporate risks within London.
  • Prepare and report performance data for London.
  • Managing a team of Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisors to ensure that they deliver a high level of performance.
  • Mentoring and developing team members.
  • Providing support, advice and/or signposting for all matters relating to HSW.
  • Overseeing incident reviews for significant safety reports within London.
  • Undertaking site inspections.
  • Undertaking various ad-hoc projects.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager.

Base location: Reading RG1 8DB.

What you  should bring into the role:
  • Passion for Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, leading by example.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in related sectors such as utilities, infrastructure, or construction is advantageous.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to effectively engage and influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Proactive Team Player: Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to take initiative in achieving goals.
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ Level 3 as a minimum requirement; NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma and Chartered IOSH membership are desirable.
  • Driving License: A valid full UK driving license is essential.
