We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager with a strong background in the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and energy utilities industries. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that health, safety, and environmental standards are consistently upheld across our operations, with a particular focus on remote teams working in challenging and high-risk environments. Your proactive approach to safety will help promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement, ensuring that our teams are protected and well-equipped to perform their duties safely.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. This includes conducting regular site inspections and audits, including remote and rural locations, to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to protocols.
As part of your role, you will lead incident investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences, and provide ongoing training and support to employees on best practices for health, safety, and environmental management. Special attention will be given to remote work, rural hazards, and the unique challenges posed by working in close proximity to power lines.
Collaboration with project managers and the field teams will be essential as you integrate health and safety considerations into project planning and execution, ensuring that safety remains a top priority. You will also be tasked with preparing and presenting regular health and safety performance reports to senior management and stakeholders, keeping them informed on key metrics and progress.
A crucial part of this role involves managing and coordinating emergency response plans, particularly for work in farmland and under power lines, where specific risks must be mitigated. Additionally, you will oversee the provision of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all installers and surveyors, ensuring tools and equipment are maintained to the highest safety standards. Developing protocols for working safely in various climates and weather conditions will also be part of your responsibilities.
In addition, you’ll oversee the safe operation and maintenance of commercial vehicles and Polaris off-road vehicles, ensuring regular audits and inspections are conducted.
If you are passionate about fostering a culture of safety and have the experience required to lead in this challenging and rewarding environment, we want to hear from you. Join us in creating a safer future for the energy industry.
