Head of Energy Compliance
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Energy Compliance to join our Ethics & Compliance team! The Ethics & Compliance function provides assurance that Centrica operates in a manner consistent with its legal and regulatory obligations.
Reporting to the Head of Compliance (Financial Services), the Head of Energy Compliance is accountable for establishing and maintaining a robust compliance framework for energy, and ensuring the governance structure within which the framework sits is effective.
The Role:
Establish a framework for evidencing British Gas Energy is compliant with relevant energy regulations (primarily the energy supply licence, and relevant statutes)
Structure and conduct risk-based reviews to provide compliance assurance. This will involve close working with the Regulatory Affairs team and the Director of E&C Assurance & Risk to provide proactive risk identification and effective prioritisation
Help maintain the governance framework developed for the regulated entity (British Gas Trading Ltd) and ensure consistency with the energy compliance framework
Provide assurance that Centrica operates in a manner consistent with relevant energy laws and regulations. As such, close working relationships with senior Centrica management is a critical aspect of the role and close support to business areas by the team is essential
The Person:
An excellent understanding (and ideally track record) of introducing and maintaining compliance frameworks and assurance methodologies will be essential
A comprehension of the energy sector will be an advantage
Excellent verbal, presentation and reasoning skills
Ability to build constructive relationships at all levels of an organisation
Strong stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage cross-functional project teams
Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Trained to degree level, or significant experience in applying compliance frameworks
