Working for ScottishPower Renewables onshore business, you will be a professionally qualified safety practitioner who has gained experience in serving multi-site operations, predominantly engaged in an electrical and mechanical maintenance. You will also be involved in construction work, Energy Park development projects and will contribute to the health & safety journey that the entire Scottish Power Group has embarked upon. While preference may be given to candidates with experience of working in windfarms and other renewable energy facilities, proving to us that you have the knowledge, experience and the right attitude will ensure that we will invest in your development to ensure you can meet the requirements of this demanding and very rewarding role.
Reporting to the Onshore Health & Safety Manager, the main purpose of the role is to support the Operations & Maintenance department (site operations), construction projects, projects in development and all other aspects of SPR's business activities in the onshore arena. The role will also focus on the development of the health and safety management system through the delivery of projects identified and agreed in the health and safety operating plan. The overall aim is to achieve world class performance levels working in partnership with employees, contractors, customers and members of the public.
⦁ To establish, monitor and control a safe working environment within the area where the post holder is responsible.
⦁ Provide professional leadership and direction to Senior Management and Project Managers across the Business.
⦁ Lead and deliver projects and programmes to meet operating objectives within performance metrics and agreed deliverables.
⦁ Develop and manage projects in collaboration with Business and Corporate stakeholders, JV partners and contractors
⦁ Lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
⦁ Develop opportunities for best-practice exchanges including regular facilitation of workshops and meetings.
⦁ Be responsible for the promotion, development and review of projects which support the delivery of the health and safety policy and strategy.
Skills and Requirements
⦁ Educated to degree level or significant compensatory experience.
⦁ NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
⦁ An electrical qualification is desirable, along with experience of HV electrical systems
⦁ Authoritative knowledge of wind turbine safety rules and electrical safety rules
⦁ Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health is desirable.
⦁ A self-starter and able to work on own experience and initiative with minimal direction.
⦁ Knowledge and experience of project management.
⦁ A clear understanding of the whole value chain and the key processes within each business.
⦁ Ability to operate and positively influence at all levels in the organisation and with external stakeholders.
⦁ Ability to devise practical solutions to complex and risk-based problems or challenges.
⦁ Facilitation, mentoring and coaching skills.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as a minimum:
⦁ Educated to degree level or significant compensatory experience
⦁ NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
⦁ Experience in project management with multiple stakeholders.
⦁ A knowledge and experience of managing electrical safety issues
⦁ Developed and practiced negotiation, communication, presentation and inter-personal management skills.
⦁ Able to travel to fulfil responsibilities of role.
⦁ Knowledge of the Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules
What we Offer
This is a Permanent contract. Salary circa £50,000 PA plus add-ons. Other benefits for this role include a performance related bonus up to 10% and single cover health care.

The successful candidate will be required to work a core week of Monday to Friday. Proposals for flexible working arrangements will be considered. There is an occasional requirement for working at weekends and into the evening as well as a requirement to occasionally stay overnight at remote locations.
The base location is ScottishPower House and in order to meet our internal customer needs & expectations, there will be a requirement to visit other locations such as windfarms, construction projects and contractor premises as well as other Scottish Power locations. There is a requirement to be physically fit in order to climb wind turbines and visit remote rural locations. Due to the requirement for working at remote locations, the successful candidate must possess a full driving licence. Occasional travel to the Republic of Ireland and other European destinations will necessitate that the individual can satisfy all requirements for entry to EU countries and can demonstrate that they have the right to live and work in the UK. Candidates must live, or be prepared to live, within a reasonable commuting distance from the base location.
