As Group SHEQ Director (UK) at FCC Environment UK, you will be accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for ensuring all operations comply with relevant legislation, regulations, approved codes of practice, and recognised industry guidance. You will provide strategic leadership across the business, promoting a strong SHEQ culture and supporting operational teams to achieve and maintain best practice and compliance.

This role safeguards adherence to external and internal policies and procedures, meeting the requirements of regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency (EA), Natural Resources Wales (NRW), Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Office of Traffic Commissioners (OTC), industry organisations and Local Authorities.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working Monday to Friday.

What will you be doing?
• Provide strategic SHEQ leadership and expert advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team
• Develop, implement and continuously improve Safety, Health, Environment & Quality programmes across the business
• Maintain and oversee compliance with ISO standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and ISO 14064
• Lead and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) across FCC Environment UK
• Build strong relationships with regulators, insurers, industry bodies and internal stakeholders
• Oversee fleet, plant and operator licence compliance including FORS, ADR, LOLER and PUWER requirements
• Monitor SHEQ performance, ensuring accurate reporting and driving continuous improvement initiatives
• Lead, develop and manage the SHEQ team, setting clear objectives and driving accountability

What are we looking for?
• Proven senior-level experience in SHEQ leadership within a complex, multi-site environment
• Strong knowledge of waste management, recycling or similar regulated industries
• Extensive experience with integrated management systems and ISO standards
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) qualification
• Chartered Membership of IOSH (or equivalent professional body)
• Strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical information clearly
• A proactive, resilient and strategic approach to risk management and compliance
