Group Development Director (UK)

As Group Development Director (UK) at FCC Environment (UK), reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic leadership for the development and growth of the UK business. You will be responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities, shaping and delivering the Development Strategy, and driving sustainable growth across the Group’s business activities. Through a strategic approach to market and business development, the Group Development Director (UK) will significantly shape the development of the Group’s strategy by analysing the market and advising the Board of development opportunities, reflective of the emerging industry landscape.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working Monday to Friday.

What will you be doing?
• Be responsible for the overall management, development and assessment of the Business Development function
• Achieve volume and profit objectives across the business in line with the agreed annual budgets to meet the business’s strategic and operational business plans
• Provide strategic leadership and direction for business development across the UK
• Develop and deliver the Group Development Strategy in line with corporate objectives
• Identify, evaluate and deliver new commercial opportunities, including tendered and non-tendered projects
• Lead the development, negotiation and delivery of new projects, joint ventures and strategic partnerships
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, public bodies and key stakeholders
• Contribute to and positively influence the development, communication and promotion of corporate core purpose, vision, mission and values.
• Oversee the successful transition of projects from development phase into operational delivery
• Lead, motivate and develop the business development teams to achieve volume, revenue and profit targets
• Represent FCC Environment professionally within the market and industry forums
• Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation and long-term growth of the business

What are we looking for?
• Significant senior-level experience in business development within a regulated or infrastructure-led sector
• Proven track record of delivering growth, revenue and commercially viable contracts
• Strong understanding of tendering, contract negotiation and project development
• Experience working with public sector bodies, particularly local authorities
• Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualifications
• Excellent leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to operate at Board and Executive level
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
