Job Purpose

Job Accountabilities

  • As a graduate hydro-geologist, you are required to develop your knowledge of groundwater management, water balance assessments, borehole operation, water quality, and assessments of the environmental impact of groundwater abstraction.
  • The three year graduate programme will provide you with the opportunity to undertake placements in different areas of the business in relation to water resources. 
  • You will develop your experience and expertise in the integration, influencing and understanding of environmental and drinking water regulations in relation to groundwater sources
  • You will influence the development of guidance on groundwater asset risk assessments and inspections, and lead on those asset assessments that support the delivery of regulatory reporting requirements, including the price review, the statutory water resources management plan and drought plan.
  • You will provide technical support to capital projects where an assessment of groundwater resources/hydrogeology is required to ensure investment decisions are sound and evidence based.
  • During periods of dry weather, you will work with operational teams to safely activate groundwater drought sources, in agreement with key regulators and stakeholders.
  • Working as part of a team, you will provide all regulatory reports and data, statutory and non-statutory, to external stakeholders. Making sure this is accurate and timely; in particular drinking water safety plans, water resource management plan, PR24 business plan and drought plan.
  • You need to be able to communicate affectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to write clear, concise, accurate specifications with measurable outputs.

Knowledge and Skills

  • We require our hydrogeologist graduates to have an accredited master's degree in hydrogeology, water resources or civil engineering or 2:1 BSc in science and engineering subjects.
