Job Purpose

 

You will be responsible for all scientific and practical technical input to the System Performance and county teams, to achieve regulatory, financial and key business performance targets. Ensuring all assets are managed to optimal efficiency within agreed budgetary targets whilst meeting all regulatory compliance standards.

 

Job Accountabilities

 

You will be required to analyse and interpret operational performance information in the area related to flow and spill,  identifying and implementing corrective actions within Health & Safety requirements; and escalating regulatory or performance risks to the System Performance Manager and county operational teams as appropriate. You will be responsible for:

 
  • Contributing to the provision of area information for regulatory returns and Environment Agency correspondence
  •                
  • Proactive in the delivery of appropriate site specific action plans and procedures related to flow and spill
  •                
  • Creating, developing, tracking, implementing and reporting action plans to ensure all wastewater spill and flow related activities comply with legislation and regulatory obligations whilst achieving internal company performance targets.
  •                
  • Working with the existing operational team of Technical officers, Controllers and Operators to deliver regulatory compliance and performance
  •                
  • Providing scientific, technical and practical direction required for the short and medium term operation of spill and flow related assets
  •                
  • Supporting Controllers and Operators to develop strong technical capability and competence in relation to flow and spill
  •                
  • Assessing and reviewing enhancement options in order to recommend corrective action to improve compliance with flow and spill
  •                
  • Identifying operational problems and spill/flow asset needs relating to compliance, efficiency, asset availability, Health and Safety and optimisation.
  •                
  • Assessing and reviewing enhancement options in order to recommend corrective action.

  • Analysing and explaining operational performance data and review performance reports with the regulatory operational performance manager.
  •                
  • Proactively involved with site and district action planning to ensure compliance and optimise the operation and maintenance of flow/spill assets.
  •                
  • Taking a lead role in ensuring quality assurance documents are developed and maintained in alignment with business requirement
  •                
  • Monitoring the alarm management system in relation to flow/spill asset performance ensuring best practice is implemented.
  •                
  • Identifying and delivering optimisation opportunities working collaboratively with the county team to ensure the operation of flow/spill assets is fully optimised
  •                
  • Contributing to the development of suitable risk registers. Identify risks and issues and support in prioritising risks and issues for investment or operational management
  •                
  • Have a strong understanding how new flow/spill assets operate and support the training and development of the operational teams
 

Knowledge and Skills

 

To be considered for this role you’ll need a wide range of analytical skills to effectively analyse performance data for spill and flow assets, in addition to well-developed IT, numerical, analytical and problem solving skills to deliver operational and financial performance targets. You’ll also need:

 
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills combined with effective team working to successfully influence key stakeholders
  •                
  • An excellent knowledge and practical experience of wastewater network & treatment processes and best operational practice
  •                
  • A technical knowledge of wastewater flow and spill related assets and the associated operational, and maintenance requirements to ensure delivery of lowest whole life cost solutions
  •                
  • Ability to demonstrate practical experience working in wastewater operations and maintenance and experience of delivering and maintaining performance improvement
  •                
  • Understanding and implementation of future regulatory requirements within wastewater operations
