We have an exciting opportunity at Thames Water to join our Home Counties Waste Network team as a Field Operations Specialist.
Your role will be to carry out investigations into complex operational problems within our waste network and deliver efficient solutions. You will also take a leading role in delivering an excellent customer experience and driving a culture of health and safety.
What you’ll be doing as the Field Operation Specialist
- Working alongside both field and office teams, you will coordinate complex planned and reactive technical activities to ensure maximum effectiveness and minimal customer impact.
- You will be the main point of contact for any emergency works required in your area and will be responsible for ensuring that contractors are working safely and in compliance with business procedures, whilst minimising impact on our customers.
- Ensure a great customer experience is delivered by always considering customer impact during remedial works. Work closely with the customer team to investigate and resolve customer complaints.
- Carry out contractor auditing; ensuring that all works undertaken meet the Thames Water Health, Safety and Wellbeing standards and are in line with business requirements.
- Work in collaboration with our delivery partners to deliver asset maintenance activity.
- Identify business risks as appropriate and record / monitor / resolve them in line with the company risk management procedure.
- Promote a culture of health and safety as well as continuous improvements across your region.
- Take part in our regional network Out Of Hours Standby rota, to oversee emergency work.

Working Pattern or hours: 36 hours
Requirements for the role: Valid UK driving license
What should you bring to the role?
- Good technical civil experience, ideally in Waste infrastructure, would be beneficial but not essential.
- Skilled in finding cost-conscious solutions to complex network issues.
- Have a zero-compromise approach to health and safety and must be persistent in your methods.
- A full UK driving license is essential.
- Have previous experience working and managing the activity of third-party contractors.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills, to interact with your colleagues and customers/stakeholders.
- Competent at using appropriate company IT systems and office software.
