National Grid is hiring a ER Advisor on a 12 month FTC.

We are looking for a professional and pro-active ER Advisor, to join our supportive and collaborative ER team to act as the critical first point of contact and advice for our Stakeholders.

You will provide timely support, and pragmatic guidance to Managers at all levels who are managing ER Case Management activities across National Grid in the UK. You'll provide advice at all stages on a range of internal policies (Disciplinary, Grievance, Performance Improvement, Discrimination, Bullying & Harassment, Drugs & Alcohol and Sickness Absence) and be confident coaching managers and influencing colleagues to encourage change.

You will ensure that fair and robust Investigations are completed by the business in relation to Disciplinary and Grievance matters and that cases are progressed through to conclusion quickly adhering to Policy and ACAS principles.

This role is based in our Warwick office and we have a hybrid working approach with circa 1- 2 days in the office per week.

What you'll do

• Provide a visible, timely, customer focused service to the business with delivery against all required Case Management activities and timescales
• Distil case related matters received from stakeholders to determine appropriate course of action and advise accordingly (eg where to start in the relevant procedure; how to approach the situation etc); be able to identify any complexities / risks that might warrant more careful advice and /or referral to more experienced member of case management team
• Confidently advise and coach Managers on all ER Policies and escalate to Employee Relations Specialists as necessary.
• Provide necessary support and guidance around good practice and process / policy requirements to enable fair and reasonable approaches to be taken / decisions to be made
• As required support cases as Notetaker.
• Advise and coach the business on appropriate circumstances for suspension / workplace separation and ensure monitoring of timescales and reviews where employees are suspended; ensure appropriate communications are issued regularly.
• Work with stakeholders to source and secure Investigation managers on a timely basis.
• Guide stakeholders and Investigating Managers through the investigation process and ensure regular communication
• Review all investigation reports for completeness and address any gaps with the investigation manager, escalate any issues accordingly
• Monitoring investigation timelines to ensure cases are closed within timescales, taking appropriate action to escalate / seek further advice
• Once investigation report and appendices are signed off'', create the master copy of Investigation Report, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all necessary documents before sharing confidentially with Decision Makers and saving on the internal SharePoint system
• Ensure post Disciplinary/Grievance meeting that documentation is complete and contains all relevant notes etc and that final copy of outcome letter, notes any typed transcripts are retained in master file on SharePoint.
• Maintain appropriate and regular contact with Managers and Employees throughout processes to ensure pastoral care and / or the health and wellbeing of employee which on occasion will require Occupational Health Assessment

What you'll need

• Proven recent experience of operating as an ER Advisor or within a HR Operational role
• Up to date Employment Law knowledge and practical pragmatic application of legislation
• Experience and confidence in the provision of detailed advice on separate policies to a range of stakeholders at all levels on a timely basis
• Sound judgement and problem-solving skills to manage difficult conversation and resolve conflict as well as focusing on positive behaviours and outcomes in a proactive manner to recommend solutions.
• Ability to manage high case workload and change direction in a fast-paced environment.
• Ideally you will be CIPD qualified (level 5) with recent ER experience.

A competitive salary between £40,706 - £44,297 per annum - dependent on capability.
